Brightly Coloured Squadrons

These photos are from 2018 when I first got back into miniature painting after a 25-year gap.

I was inspired by some of the photos I’d seen on the internet and wanted to come up with something fun.

Painting these guys was to be more of a challenge than I originally expected. I’d never noticed, for example, that my short-range eyesight was now quite rubbish! (I’ve since acquired glasses for close up work.)

Limited Equipment

It became obvious that getting photos of the miniatures was going to be as much of a challenge as painting them…  As you can see most of the photos have a shallow focal depth, and are all a bit blurry.

Choice of Background

I didn’t have any kind of purpose made background for taking the shots – so I improvised by placing them on the 6’x3′ star field battle matt.

I think the stars on the background add too much distraction but they are better than nothing at all!

Camera Limitations

I took these photos with the camera in my Google Pixel. While the Pixel is supposed to have a good camera, I found it a struggle to get images that I was happy with.
